A Foundation for American Youth

The
Proving
Ground

Where potential meets purpose. Every kid deserves a place to prove what they're made of.

◆ Why This Matters Now

Every day we wait, another kid — from a rural reservation, an urban neighborhood, a trailer park, or a barrio — hits 16 with no skills, no mentor, and no path forward. We are actively raising support to build Center One. Join us.

01 — Mission

Built for the
kids who have
something to prove.

Millions of American kids grow up in communities where opportunity is invisible. In urban neighborhoods, rural towns, Native American reservations, Native Hawaiian communities, and Latino barrios alike, youth face the same deficit: no access to skills training, no mentors, and no place that says you belong here and you are capable of more.

The Proving Ground acquires and rehabilitates underutilized buildings in distressed communities — urban and rural — and converts them into full-service youth skill centers. Starting at age 10.

We serve every underserved community in America — urban neighborhoods, rural towns, Native American and Native Hawaiian tribes, Latino communities, and Appalachian hollows alike. The ground levels everyone.

3

02 — The Model

Learn it. Do it.
Earn it. Teach it.

Our merit badge system is modeled on military progression — you advance by demonstrating competence, not by showing up. Each skill has three tiers. Each tier earns a badge. The badges build a portfolio that opens real doors.

10–13
Phase I — Learn & Train
Youth enter the center and begin structured skills training across both tracks. Computer labs, tool bays, and onsite coaches — all under one roof.
14–15
Phase II — Deploy & Serve
Trained youth deploy into their communities — fixing porches, setting up computers for neighbors, assisting on farms. Earnings go toward college savings or a first vehicle.
16+
Phase III — Lead & Launch
Advanced graduates become site coaches themselves. Some launch businesses. Some enter trade apprenticeships. Some go to college. All leave with credentials and a story.

03 — Military Connection

Forged by those
who know what
it takes.

A retired Special Forces soldier teaching a 12-year-old from an underserved community how to fix an engine isn't just transferring a skill. He's transferring a standard.

The Proving Ground draws its spirit — and its mentors — from the military community. Veterans, especially those from special operations backgrounds, bring something no curriculum can teach: the lived experience of being forged under pressure into something greater than you thought you could be.

Veteran Coach Program — retired service members placed inside each center as trade instructors and mentors, providing discipline, structure, and standards
SOCOM Partnership Lane — engagement with U.S. Special Operations Command, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and affiliated veteran organizations
The HALO Badge — our highest merit badge tier, named in honor of the HALO community and the standard of excellence it represents
Post-Service Purpose — gives veterans a meaningful civilian mission that directly leverages their training and values
◆ Founding Honor
Rick Asket
HALO Instructor · Combat Controller
U.S. Air Force Special Operations
Rick spent his career making others ready for whatever came next. A combat controller's mission is to be the bridge — calling in support, connecting resources to the people who need them on the ground. That is exactly what this foundation does for kids.
◆ Center One
The Rick Asket Center
Our founding location — a physical place where the next generation proves what they're made of, carrying forward a legacy of service, discipline, and belief in others.

04 — Partnerships

Built to attract
partners who
invest in people.

The Proving Ground is designed as a platform. Industry partners fund certifications, provide equipment, staff coaching fellows, and create direct pipelines from our centers to real jobs and apprenticeships.

05 — Facilities

Buildings that
become anchors.

Every Proving Ground center starts as an underutilized or surplus government building — acquired through purchase, lease, or public-private partnership — and is fully rehabilitated with modern infrastructure.

01
The Rick Asket Center
Center One. Our founding location. Named in honor of HALO instructor and combat controller Rick Asket. A place where the spirit of preparation, discipline, and service lives in every wall. Targeting Yuma, AZ and the surrounding community.
02
Full Infrastructure Build-Out
Every center receives complete infrastructure investment: updated HVAC, computer labs, tool bays, vehicle bays, and safe community gathering spaces. Built to last. Built to serve multiple generations.
03
Replicable by Design
The model is built to scale nationally. Each new center follows the same acquisition, rehabilitation, and program framework — allowing rapid deployment into new distressed communities as funding grows.
04
Community Ownership
Centers are staffed by local hires, managed by program graduates, and deeply embedded in the communities they serve. Permanence and trust are the foundation. This isn't a program that disappears.

06 — Get Involved

Ready to help
build this?

We're seeking founding partners, veteran coaches, facility leads, and donors who believe every kid deserves a proving ground.
